Philanthropy: What Gives a Company Heart

Throughout the year, Team Russell & Lea is pleased to give back to the communities in which we work, live, and play. For the most part, these philanthropic activities are well-planned in advance, with specific goals assigned and a strategy to be impactful. This past winter, however, we learned how quickly we can think on our feet to help out when disaster strikes.

In January, coastal sections of Boston, Massachusetts were in the cross-hairs of a meteorological phenomenon known as a “bomb cyclone.” Think of a combination of a blizzard and a tidal wave, and this is what the city experienced. A 17-foot wall of water flooded the streets, impacting homes and businesses, with several people evacuated. For people in our Russell & Lea office, this was a call to action. We wanted to help those in need following this emergency.

Giving back means knowing how best to support a cause. In this case, what those individuals affected by the icy flood waters needed were cleaning supplies and flashlights. As a team, we collected these products and worked with local agencies to make sure they were distributed.

If there’s one thing that brings us all closer in the Russell & Lea HQ, it’s an opportunity to be a force for good. We are compassionate to the core and strongly believe that we have a duty as an organization to help our community, whether it’s something for which we’ve got a plan, or when help is immediately required. It’s a privilege to be able to serve others.
